Quaranta Frutta s.r.l. (then QF) was born with this business name in 1984, continuing the activity of the industry Quaranta Mario & Figli, grandfather and fathers of the present generation at the head of QF; industry that nowadays can boast more than 70 years of experience in the fruit and vegetable area.
QF is part of a group of industries specialized in the production, conditioning and marketing of the fruit and vegetable product:
- TOP FRESH SRL: specialized in the overseas marketing;
- TOP GOLD SRL: a new society for the worldwide sole right of the new variety of yellow pulp kiwi named “TOP GOLD”;
- DELLA PENNA e DURAS TOP GOLD SRL: for the development of the production of the “TOP GOLD” variety;
- COOP EMME40 S.C.A.: born in 2015; nowadays boast 134 kiwi production partners in Lazio, Piemonte e Campania.
The synergies of this group of industries have also allowed, besides the development of the marketing through European and overseas distributive chains, to obtain the exclusive worldwide right of the yellow pul kiwi variety “TOP GOLD”, a sub-acid variety that develops a dry (23%) substance and a brix grade equal to 18. In order to better develop the production, this variety will be in trade in 2020.
QF markets every year about:
- 2.000 tons of Hayward kiwi e 600 tons of Soreli kiwi of Italian origin divided for Piedmont (45%), Lazio (45%) and other regions (10%).
- 1.200 tons of Angeleno plums entirely produced in Piedmont.
- 7.000 tons of nectarine peaches entirely produced in Piedmont.
The agronomic management is entrusted to the holders of the suppliers farms, often agronomists, joined by an external technician. The QF requires the holding and compilation of the cultivation/self-defense plan proposed every year following the new regulations and registrations/cancellations of the active principles and so it’s able to guarantee a maximum of three active principles on the product.
Installations and facilities could be outlined in:
- 5.000 mq: forecourts;
- 4.000 mq: deposit of packages;
- 3.000 mq: processing room;
- 13.000 ton: cooling capacity of which 13.000 in controlled atmosphere.
Availabilities of the product, referred to a normal seasonal trend, are the following:
- Peaches, availability from 15 July to 10 September with Royal Glory, Elegant Lady, Red Moon, Summer Rich, Rom Star and Roberta varieties;
- Nectarine peaches: availability from 10 July to 15 September with Big Top, Caldesi, Alitop, Amiga, Diamond Ray, Nectaross, Nectareine, Orion and Venus varieties. Possibility to pack the product with coloration lines 80%+ for the period from 20 July to 15 September. For the coloration lines it is sought to plan, with the technicians, the client’s requested pieces intervening with potature ad thinning. Packaging capacity: 150 ton per day on average.
- Angeleno plums: availability from 1 September to 15 November. Packaging capacity: 50 ton per day.
- Hayward kiwi: availability from 25 October to 10 May. Packaging capacity: 100 ton per day.
- Soreli kiwi: availability from 20 September to 30 November. Packaging capacity 100 ton per day.
The society is logistically able to dispatch during the day orders received in the early afternoon.
Since 2015 the QF is certified IFS e BRC and since 2016 is certified for conditioning and marketing of the BIOLOGIC product, so the inspections made are articulated:
- providers selection is mainly based on experience, where in fact almost all the goods are produced by owned companies or by historic providers, of proven trust;
- the totality of the incoming fruit is controlled by a person in charge of the company and multi-residual analyzes are performed on the product;
- during the process the company is able to adapt to any quality standard required by the customer, there is a code tracking system to trace the lot / group of lots in each package;
- part of the production is certified according to the Eurepgap protocol.
